Spider Crew "Still Crazy But Not Insane" WTF Records.

So we got a new release from Spider Crew. My only knowledge of these hardcore vets from Vienna, came from the Thorp release; split with NY's Step 2 Far. Well, these guys have continued that Oi driven street hardcore and taken it to new heights.

They have actually been around for years and released more than i had ever seen ("You Better Recognize", "Expect the Unexpected", Menace to Society"). First impressions, Agnostic Front. AF is a big influence on these dudes. And that rules. Good place to start. Throw in some Madball, Discipline, Beat Down, (early) Cold as Life, and Blood for Blood and i think you've got it nailed. A strong skinhead hardcore feeling. Slower creep crawl sing along mayhem. It is pretty impressive. solid musician ship, tight production helps deliver a rock hard cd. Dual vocals, one of which definitely goes after that Roger Miret feel, the other is a little gruffer. The guitars are heavy, clean and chunky riffs. This band writes great breakdowns, founded on balls out rhythm section.

While there is no component here that is too original, or my review may seem a tad generic - this album is truly greater than the sum of its parts. It's about hate, outcasts, tattoos, brotherhood, NYHC love, and other things you have heard before - but it is executed brilliantly. I love hardcore and this is a kick ass hardcore cd from a killer hardcore band. i find myself listening to it over and over.
